President's Message September 2011

Hello All,

It is almost that time of year…The time of year where we are looking for volunteers.  We will have several openings on our board and I would like everyone to consider being a part of it.  I know that everyone is very busy day in and day out.  It seems like the days, weeks & months just fly by, but we really only need 2 or 3 hours a month of your time.  Did you know that 1 month has 720 hours in it?  So 2 or 3 hours is a very, very small amount.  Here is one more thing to think about.  It is always going to be harder for the people with kids to volunteer because of homework and after school activities.  So for all the rest of you that do not have any children at home or even some of you that do not have full time jobs, please think about running for a position on the board.  We really do need people to help with this community and it can’t always be the same people year after year.

Please see later in the Beachcomber the official statements regarding the Dredge.

The last thing I would like to talk about are cameras on the water.  The Port Authority Board has discussed this at some of their meetings and apparently they are not the only ones thinking about this.  Please see the below a news article from the Tampa Tribune on July 31st.   The board decided to table their discussion until they see what happens in Pasco County.

Our September meeting is on Thursday Sept 1st.  We will be having our Ice Cream Social but we are also trying to arrange a visit from FEMA.  We do not have all the details worked out since it is so early.  But please watch the website www.hernandobeachpoa.com and your email.  We will have an update as soon as possible.

President, HBPOA
